Where does the ship dock?
Astoria is a river-port town before it is a viewpoint. Begin with Pier 1, then let the Riverwalk connect maritime work, downtown streets and one carefully chosen hill or museum.
Can I walk into town?
Chinook and Clatsop-Nehalem relationships with the river long predate the United States town. Fur trade, fishing, canning, timber, immigration and dangerous bar crossings all need more than one heroic expedition story.
Practical information
Rain, wind and low cloud are ordinary coastal conditions. Keep an indoor anchor and confirm lifts, gradients and surfaces, especially at hillside viewpoints and historic buildings.
What fits the day?
Two hours supports the Riverwalk and downtown. Half a day can add the maritime museum or Column. A full day may take one protected coach outing, with weather and bridge traffic inside the return margin.
Safety and return
Astoria is a living port and county centre. Give fishing crews, residents and transit users room, use Indigenous names through current community guidance, and finish at the exact gate saved on arrival.
