Where does the ship dock?
Start by identifying Havensight, Crown Bay or a harbour tender. Charlotte Amalie is compact along the water but rises sharply inland; combine one central history loop with one beach, viewpoint or island transfer rather than crossing the island repeatedly.
Can I walk into town?
Downtown works on foot from a tender and with a transfer from either pier. Taxis are the practical choice for Magens Bay, Smith Bay, Coki Point, Mountain Top and Red Hook. Confirm fare, pickup and terminal before departure.

US dollars are used and traffic keeps left. The USVI restricts sunscreens containing oxybenzone, octinoxate or octocrylene; check current law and choose compliant mineral protection before beach or reef activity.
What fits the day?
Two hours suits Fort Christian, Emancipation Garden and the waterfront. Half a day can add one beach or ridge viewpoint. Water Island, Hassel Island or the far east of St Thomas should be treated as the main transfer.
