Where does the ship dock?

St George's wraps around a natural harbour with a compact lower town and steep neighbourhoods above it. A short call works well for the Esplanade, tunnel and Carenage. Forts and beaches need more effort, while rainforest, spice-estate and north-coast journeys require a booked vehicle and conservative return time.

Can I walk into town?

Walk from the terminal towards the Sendall Tunnel for the Carenage, or remain on the Esplanade side for markets and shops. Upper streets become steep almost immediately. Confirm any tender instructions because a tender landing can change the point from which the day begins and ends.

Practical information

English is official and Eastern Caribbean dollars are standard; US dollars are commonly accepted with local change. Tropical downpours can be sharp, and the interior is cooler and wetter than the cruise quay. Mobile coverage should not replace saved offline directions.

What fits the day?

Two hours suits the lower town and museum. Half a day can add Grand Anse, Fort Frederick or Annandale. Grand Etang, Molinere snorkelling or a working estate needs a planned half or full day. Combining opposite coasts creates too much road risk for an ordinary call.

Safety and return

Ship time overrides local time. Roads are narrow and winding beyond the south-west, rain can slow the interior, and several attractions rely on timed tours. Set a turnaround alarm, retain a taxi fallback and re-enter through the exact passenger gate named by the ship.
