Where does the ship dock?
Dubrovnik has two very different cruise-day arrivals: fixed berths in Gruž and ship tenders near the Old City. The walls may be the visual landmark, but the ship’s named return point is the practical anchor for the whole day.
Can I walk into town?
The city walls, Stradun, Rector’s Palace, the Franciscan complex and the Maritime Museum make a coherent Old City route. Lokrum, Mount Srđ, Cavtat and Ston each need extra transport and a deliberately earlier turn-back.
Practical information
Heat, polished stone, stair lanes and ticket queues change the pace quickly. Check current openings, cable-car or boat operation and the ship’s transport notice before leaving the arrival point.
What fits the day?
Two hours suits Stradun and one nearby monument. Half a day can include the walls or a museum. A full day should choose only one distant addition rather than trying to combine an island, mountain and regional road trip.
Safety and return
Keep away from wall edges and working harbour areas, use licensed transport and allow for road congestion. The controlling deadline is arrival at the exact Gruž gate or tender queue with ship security still to clear.
