Where does the ship dock?
The station, terminals, maritime museum and old harbour form a compact western cluster. The historic centre then climbs inland through narrow lanes and steep streets.
Can I walk into town?
Porto Antico and Galata are low-risk nearby choices. The old town is close but easy to wander through, while Boccadasse needs deliberate transport and a larger margin.
Practical information
Currency is the euro. Central Genoa is compact but vertically demanding; public lifts, funiculars and buses can reduce climbing when operating.
What fits the day?
Two hours suits Porto Antico and the lower old town. A half-day can add one museum or palace. A full day can include Boccadasse only with a firm transport plan.
Safety and return
Use ship time and all-aboard, save the terminal entrance, and avoid shortcuts through unfamiliar lanes when the margin narrows. Keep normal urban awareness in crowded alleys.
