Izmir Cruise Port Guide

Cruise ships berth inside Izmir’s working Alsancak port, north of the central waterfront. Konak is an onward city journey and Ephesus is a separate long road excursion near Selçuk; neither should replace the recorded cruise gate on the return.

Where does the ship dock?

The assigned berth is inside Alsancak’s working port. Central Izmir begins beyond the secure passenger exit, while Selçuk and Ephesus form a separate inland gateway.

Can I walk into town?

Choose a compact Izmir day around Kordon, Konak and the Agora, or make Ephesus the single distant anchor. Do not attempt both as equal walkable districts.

Practical information

Check official site hours, city transport notices and heat. Save the port gate, not only an Izmir city-centre pin.

What fits the day?

Two hours suits Alsancak and Kordon. Half a day reaches Konak and the Agora. A full-day Ephesus route needs an early start and a large road margin.

Safety and return

Use ship-vetted transport for Ephesus, preserve a conservative cutoff and never substitute a ferry terminal or rail station for the cruise return gate.

Family port-day note

Keep the family port day realistic

At Izmir, choose one main experience, such as Kordon waterfront; locate toilets and an easy food or shade stop early, and keep a low-effort fallback close to the arrival point. Buggies, heat, cobbles and tired legs can slow the return more than a map suggests.
