Where does the ship dock?
Kotor’s cruise experience begins either at a berth just outside the walls or with a tender from an anchorage. Both feel close to town, but only the tendered call requires a final boat, and that distinction controls the return plan.
Can I walk into town?
The Sea Gate, squares, Saint Tryphon Cathedral, Maritime Museum and lower walls support a compact day. The fortress climb, Perast and Lovćen each need a separate mobility, weather and transport decision.
Practical information
The wall path is steep, exposed and rough underfoot. Heat, rain and wind can close the sensible window for climbing. Current site access and ship tender operation should be checked independently.
What fits the day?
Two hours fits the Old Town and one indoor stop. Half a day can add the lower fortifications or Perast with booked transport. A full day should choose one road excursion and turn back before traffic becomes the story.
Safety and return
Use licensed transport, avoid improvised boat transfers and protect a large bay-road margin. Berth passengers return to the controlled port gate; tender passengers must also allow for the correct queue and final boat.
