Salerno Cruise Port Guide

The Zaha Hadid maritime station at Molo Manfredi lies near the Villa Comunale and historic centre. Salerno itself is walkable, while Amalfi, Paestum and hill sights need separate transport.

Where does the ship dock?

Salerno supports a rewarding town day immediately outside Molo Manfredi and also acts as a gateway to the Amalfi Coast and Paestum. Pick one geography instead of trying to combine coast and archaeology.

Can I walk into town?

Walk through Villa Comunale into the historic centre. Use a verified ferry, train, bus or taxi for Amalfi, Vietri or Paestum and check the return before leaving.

Practical information

Euros and cards are normal. Coastal buses can be crowded, ferries seasonal and old-town surfaces uneven; carry the exact terminal map offline.

What fits the day?

Two hours covers the waterfront and cathedral. Half a day can add the Minerva Garden or Vietri; Paestum and Amalfi need a longer single-focus plan.

Safety and return

For Amalfi Coast travel, leave a later ferry or road option unused. Reaching Salerno station still leaves the waterfront journey to Molo Manfredi.

Family port-day note

Keep the family port day realistic

At Salerno, choose one main experience, such as Lungomare Trieste; locate toilets and an easy food or shade stop early, and keep a low-effort fallback close to the arrival point. Buggies, heat, cobbles and tired legs can slow the return more than a map suggests.
