Santorini Cruise Port Guide

Most cruise guests use the old-port tender below Fira, but the Municipal Port Fund’s 2026 operating model can direct a minority through Athinios. Follow the ship’s allocation both ways: the two landings have completely different cliff and road connections.

Where does the ship dock?

Santorini normally uses tenders below Fira, while the 2026 operating model can route a minority of cruise guests through Athinios. Treat the ship’s assigned landing, cable-car operation and transfer instructions as same-day facts.

Can I walk into town?

Fira, Oia, Akrotiri, Pyrgos and the caldera viewpoints each support a coherent day, but island roads and crowding make a complete-island checklist unrealistic.

Practical information

Strong sun, wind and sudden changes to tender or cable-car flow affect every plan. Check opening hours and bus times offline before leaving Fira.

What fits the day?

Two hours suits Fira and one museum. Half a day can add Oia or Akrotiri. A full day should choose one distant anchor and preserve the final tender margin.

Safety and return

Avoid the cliff edge, heat stress and improvised road transfers. Never substitute one landing for the other: return by the exact old-port tender or Athinios arrangement named by the ship.
