Where does the ship dock?
Corfu’s cruise terminal sits in the New Port, separate from the Old Fortress and historic harbour views that dominate photographs. The Old Town is close enough for a simple day, but the exact berth, terminal and return shuttle remain the practical anchors.
Can I walk into town?
Spianada, the Liston, Saint Spyridon, the Old Fortress and Campiello form a rich central circuit. Achilleion, Paleokastritsa and Kanoni are distinct additions; pick one only when transport and return margins are clear.
Practical information
Fortress routes include slopes and exposed stone, churches are active and island buses vary by route and season. Check current opening, transport and weather before crossing beyond town.
What fits the day?
Two hours fits Spianada and the lanes. Half a day can add one fortress or museum. A full day can support one island road excursion, but should not attempt both coasts and a palace before the ship.
Safety and return
Use licensed transport, keep clear of port vehicle lanes and save the New Port entrance offline. Island distances look modest, but narrow roads and traffic can consume the safety margin unexpectedly.

Family port-day note
Keep the family port day realistic
At Corfu, choose one main experience, such as Spianada; locate toilets and an easy food or shade stop early, and keep a low-effort fallback close to the arrival point. Buggies, heat, cobbles and tired legs can slow the return more than a map suggests.
