Where does the ship dock?
Grand Bahama cannot be planned safely until the arrival facility is known. Traditional Freeport Harbour is an industrial-port gateway; Celebration Key is a separate purpose-built destination. Both can lead to wider island visits, but from different starting points.
Can I walk into town?
At traditional Freeport Harbour, use authorised ground transport for every substantial outing. At Celebration Key, follow the operator’s internal route and book any off-site trip through a confirmed pickup. Never start with a generic “Freeport port” map pin.
Practical information
Carry water, sun and rain protection. The island’s pine, mangrove, cave and reef environments require different footwear and access. Park rules, restoration status, tide and marine conditions must be checked currently.
What fits the day?
A half-day can pair Port Lucaya with one beach or garden. Lucayan National Park, Gold Rock Beach, Peterson Cay, West End or East Grand Bahama should be treated as the main excursion and protected by an early turn-back.
Safety and return
Agree taxi cost and collection before leaving. Use licensed marine operators, keep valuables secure and do not enter caves, reefs or remote roads independently. Hurricane-season disruption and lingering repair work can change access.
