Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Cruise Port Guide

Cruise ships berth at Santa Catalina on the north side of Las Palmas. Las Canteras beach and nearby attractions are walkable; the historic Vegueta district is several kilometres south and needs bus or taxi.

Where does the ship dock?

Las Palmas offers two distinct city days: beach and aquarium near the ship, or history and culture in Vegueta. Both work well, but crossing between them repeatedly wastes time.

Can I walk into town?

Walk west for Las Canteras or remain around Santa Catalina. Take a direct bus or taxi south for Vegueta and Triana, then return north before the final part of the call.

Practical information

Gran Canaria uses euros, and cards are widely accepted around Las Palmas. Sun and trade winds can both be strong; beach conditions, urban paving and island altitude call for water, sunscreen and a light layer.

What fits the day?

Two hours suits Las Canteras or Poema del Mar. Half a day can cover Vegueta and Triana. Island viewpoints or towns need a longer call, fixed transport and a generous road buffer.

Safety and return

Use ship time and return to Santa Catalina early from southern districts or island roads. Preserve taxi money and never make a distant viewpoint the final stop.
